As some of the illustrious kindred said, we had a reputation to live up to. Judge for yourselves how difficult was our task! The first class meeting, conducted by some of the senior boys, made us realize how important high school was. Soon after this, a rumor drifted about that plans were being made for the freshman reception. We all became more and more nervous as the time drew near. Those of us who had brothers in the upper classes were more frightened than the rest because we knew that this was a good occasion on which to wreak vengeance for certain family quarrels. Dinman succeeded Mr. Kent but resigned shortly after, for the same reason. In February. Mr. C. E. Briggs was elected president, and served during the construction of the first unit of the school buildings. He gave his time freely, and 011 completion of the building received a testimonial from the trustees in recognition of his work. Mr. Briggs resigned in January, 1902, and 11as succeeded by \1r. Burgess. 11 ho remained about one year. He was followed by Mr. Devoll, who ser1 ed about the same length of time.
