This is the ninth volume of a comprehensive history that traces the “Presidential Line” of the Washingtons. Volume one began with the immigrant John Washington who settled in Westmoreland Co., Va., in 1657, married Anne Pope, and was the great-grandfather of President George Washington. It contained the record of their descendants for a total of seven generations. Subsequent volumes two through eight continued this family history for an additional eight generations, highlighting most notable members (volume two) and tracing lines of descent from the royalty and nobility of England and continental Europe (volume three). Volume nine collects over 8,500 descendants of the recently discovered line of William Wright (died in Franklin Co., Va., ca. 1809). It also provides briefer accounts of five other early Wright families of Virginia that have often been mentioned by researchers as close kinsmen of George Washington, including: William Wright (died in Fauquier Co., Va., ca. 1805), Frances Wright and her husband Nimrod Ashby, and William Wright (died in Greensville Co., Va., by 1827). A cumulative index will complete the series as volume ten.
The parish registers of St. James Parish on Herring Creek in Anne Arundel, MD - established 1692 - have long been out-of-print. Because of this, the author has transcribed the parish records books of the St. James Parish, along with those in Christ Church, West River, and Cliffs. All are in Anne Arundel County, MD and include dates back to the middle 1600's through the 1700s. There are two (2) sections to this book. The first is an index of all the individuals, birth, marriage and death dates along WITH their spouse's name. At the center of the book is the index for Part 1. Part 2 gives basically the same information but includes the place of birth, marriage and death, WITHOUT the names of their spouses. The index at the end of the book is for Part 2. Johann Peter Klinger was born 3 November 1773 in Reading, Pennsylvania. His parents were Johann Philip Klinger (1723-1811) and Eva Elisabeth Beilstein (1730-ca. 1815). He married Catharina Steinbruch, daughter of Adam Steinbrecher and Anna Margaretha Hoffman, in about 1791 in Lykens Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. They had eleven children. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Germany, Pennsylvania and Indiana.
John Patton (ca.b.1749), of Scottish lineage, immigrated from Ireland to Pennsylvania about 1765 and died in Carter County, Tennessee. Descendants lived in Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky, Nebraska, Utah and elsewhere.
