Somewhere between the air-conditioned foyer and padded pews, Christianity lost its mantra: They who "live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution." --J. J. Turner * Have Christians taken sanctuary in church buildings and complained about how dark it is outside? * Is there a mass exit from the battleship where the demands are tough, to a berth on the cruise ship where pleasure reigns? * How can you know if you are spiritually asleep? * Are Christians enduring hardships or making excuses? * Is Christianity about auditing God's word--or is it about being a doer of God's word? * What are some biblical examples of God's wake-up calls? * Are Christians responsible for attaining spiritual maturity?
What Would You Surrender for God? Christians in the Middle East, in much of Asia, and in Africa are still being martyred for the faith, but how many American Christians are willing to lay down their smartphones, let alone their lives, for the faith? Being a Christian in America doesn’t require much these days. Suburban megachurches are more like entertainment venues than places to worship God. The lives that American “Christians” lead aren’t much different from those of their atheist neighbors, and their knowledge of theology isn’t much better either. Matt Walsh of The Daily Wire exposes the pitiful state of Christianity in America today, lays out the stakes for us, our families, and our eternal salvation, and invites us to a faith that’s a lot less easy and comfortable—but that’s more real and actually worth something. The spiritual junk food we’re stuffing ourselves with is never going to satisfy. As St. Augustine said over a millennium ago, our hearts are restless until they rest in Him. Only God Himself can make our lives anything but ultimately meaningless and empty. And we will never get anywhere near Him if we refuse to take up our cross and follow Jesus. This rousing call to the real adventure of a living faith is a wake-up call to complacent Christians and a rallying cry for anyone dissatisfied with a lukewarm faith.
God's accomplishments through George Whitefield are to this day virtually unparalleled. In an era when many ministers were timid and apologetic in their preaching, he preached the gospel with zeal and undaunted courage. In the wake of his fearless preaching, revival swept across the British Isles, and the Great Awakening transformed the American colonies. The previous two-volume work George Whitefield: The Life and Times of the Great Evangelist of the Eighteenth-Century Revival is now condensed into this single volume, filled with primary-source quotations from the eighteenth century, not only from Whitefield but also from prominent figures such as John and Charles Wesley, Benjamin Franklin, and William Cowper.
Maybe God isn't who you think He is. Maybe He's much better. Pastor and speaker Shane Pruitt guides readers in identifying the Christian cliches we've all heard that are actually unbiblical lies. He then counters with the truths about God as presented in the Bible, truths that bring encouragement and freedom for our lives. God won't give you more than you can handle. Really? Pastor and speaker Shane Pruitt shines a light on this and other Christian cliches that upon further inspection are actually unbiblical lies that keep far too many believers stuck in spiritual immaturity.

Profound reflections on the cross that help you to meditate on and marvel at the sacrificial love of Jesus. This book can be used as a devotional, especially during Lent and Easter. These profound reflections on the cross from David Mathis, author of The Christmas We Didn’t Expect, will help you to meditate on and marvel at Jesus’ life, sacrificial death, and spectacular resurrection-enabling you to treasure anew who Jesus is and what he has done. Many of us are so familiar with the Easter story that it becomes easy to miss subtle details and difficult to really enjoy its meaning. This book will help you to pause and marvel at Jesus, whose now-glorified wounds are a sign of his unfailing love and the decisive victory that he has won: “He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5) This book can be used as a devotional. The chapters on Holy Week make it especially helpful during the Lent season and at Easter.

If you have ever sat in church and said: This doesn't make sense. If what you believe isn't the truth, would you want to know it? If so, this book is for you. We are going to discuss the tough questions that many people have about God, Christianity, and the Bible. In the title of this book I make a bold claim. I state that you are not really a Christian. Did you know: Christ never said he came to die or take on your sins? Christ never taught about the resurrection? Christ never said there is original sin? That according to Christ and God, there isn't a new covenant? That according to Christ and God, there isn't vicarious atonement? That the teaching of "none righteous" contradicts the teachings of Christ and God? That the teaching of "without the shedding of blood there is no remission" contradicts the teachings of Christ and God? That the teaching of "faith counted for righteousness" contradicts the teachings of Christ and God? That the teaching of "being saved" contradicts the teachings of Christ and God? Why are the books in the New Testament deliberately out of order? Don't Lie to Me! That's the thought I had that motivated me to search for the answers. I will provide extremely detailed proof of everything I am discussing in the Evidence section of this book. A true Christian follows the teachings of Christ. I will prove to you that you may not be a true Christian because you do not follow the teachings of Christ. Furthermore, there is a high probability that you don't even know the original teachings of Christ. We are going to discuss the tough questions that many people have about God, Christianity, and the Bible.
Bryce Runge is a self-confessed "late-riser." Bad choices, or the simple lack of decision making, left him "shipwrecked in a sea of regret" during his young adulthood. Bryce says, "I've experienced pain and suffering because of careless choices. I've been haunted by the past, pierced with grief and bound by shackles of fear." This is the starting point for many great and triumphant journeys, and so it is with Bryce Runge, who uses his own transformation from being aimless to having passion and purpose in order to encourage his readers to WAKE UP! In his first book, Wake Up, Wake Up, Wake Up, Bryce has compiled 40 Devotionals which serve as a kind of road map for the journey of life. Just as Christ spent 40 days in preparation for the work He would do for us all, we can spend 40 days in devotion to God, and literally "Wake Up to Worship" when this book is read as part of a morning ritual. The preparation and attention to our "thought-life," as Bryce calls it, can strengthen us to overcome ALL obstacles we may face and make a bigger difference than we ever imagined possible. Where Bryce was asleep at the wheel in his youth, which cost him some important opportunities, such as playing in the NFL, he has discovered and profoundly articulates the joy, adventure and importance of life, as well as the sacredness of it. Bryce has been a popular and dynamic speaker and now his life experiences, good and bad, have become fascinating lessons which are uniquely presented in each devotional. For example, Day 16 is titled, "Climb Out of the Basket" and begins with the story of visiting Washington D.C. followed by wandering Captain Jack's open market at the District Warf. Walking through the fish market, Bryce stopped and exclaimed, "Holy crab! The crab basket theory is real!" Bryce stood there in amazement, watching a basket full of crabs with no escapees, as they did indeed pull each other back down in the effort to get out. Bryce goes on to use this analogy to show how we can overcome our own "crab mentality." In another devotional, Bryce teaches readers to "get your shoulders dirty!" While it may sound a bit offbeat, it is truly a powerful piece of advice. Bryce says, "servant leaders get their shoulders dirty by lifting others up and letting others stand tall on them." On Day 29, titled "Committed to Inconvenience" Bryce tells the story of a man who gave up an expensive ski trip to the Alps to come to the aid of a friend, which ultimately resulted in the rescue of 600 children during the Holocaust. Bryce teaches, "instead of allowing inconveniences to frustrate you, view them as opportunities in disguise that lead to blessing others." There are many thought-provoking questions at the end of each devotional which help to put the teachings into practice as each day's devotional has a theme, a quote, critical thinking questions and a prayer which can be offered.
