Excerpt from Charter, Constitution and by-Laws of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia: Instituted, 1787 And be it further enacted by the authority afore said, That the said corporation be, and shall be fora ever hereafter, able and capable in law, to sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, answer and be answered unto, defend and be defended, in all or any courts of justice and other places, in all manner of suits, actions, complaints, pleas, causes and matters of what nature or kind soever; and that it shall and may be lawful to and for the said corporation for ever hereafter, to have and use a common seal, and the same seal, at the will and pleasure of the said corporation, to break, change, alter and renew.
