Seven manuscript diaries. These clearly penned diaries are full of details of Burke's daily life and, because of the nature of his job, details on the War, as it unfolded in the Pacific as well as in Europe. Entry after entry provides a running commenting of news coming in through his official channels. Five volumes cover the period of January 1 1941 to the day of his discharge and his return home, on October 12, 1945. Burke also kept two "additional" or supplemental diaries in which he records very specific information on military activities, especially in the Pacific Theatre. Diary Contents: 1. Date Book. 1941.
