Excerpt from Catalogue of Paintings and Drawings in the Permanent Collection: Transient Exhibitions; December 1915 The present exhibition, so different from those held before in this Museum, points an epoch in American art. Just as our artists were influenced by the French impressionists, Monet, Manet, Renoir, etc., now we are feeling in America the influence of such men as Cezanne, Matisse, Picasso, etc., the rev olutionists who have followed the impressionists in France. Cezanne, the great father of this group, dissat isfied with the over refinement of color and lack of form in impressionism, Went to the museums and there studied the primitive people's works of art, so real in their earth like colors, to incorporate it in his own work. This influence we may see in the men of the present exhibition. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
