Excerpt from Catalogue of the Coleoptera of Scotland The following Catalogue has been undertaken, not solely with the view of recording some additions to the Insect Fauna of Scotland, but also with the intention of correcting the synonymy of some of the species which have been established on the authority of our great British Entomological authors, where subsequent investigations have shown that species have been improperly multiplied, or new names given to species already described. I have also wished to do something towards making our British Entomologists more familiar than they are with the names generally in use on the Continent. For these reasons I have made the following list a Synonymic Catalogue. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
