They are also key mechanisms for verifying important measurement results and in developing new measurement methods. SRMs provide users with tools to assist in establishing traceability of measurement results to the International System of Units (SI). Each SRM comes carefully packaged with documentation containing assigned values with stated uncertainties and a material safety data sheet, if applicable. First you gotta find a good clean (legible) copy and make sure it's the latest version (not always easy).
