This study analyses the exceptional narratives of five South Asian women writers who uncover hidden manifestations of male violence against women. Their vehement struggle for the attention on gender-based violence is transferred into literary representations that give the impression of an avalanche of feelings impatiently waiting to be transformed into words after a long-endured silence. In analysing the possibilities and consequences of disrupting the silence on male violence, this study discusses the costs and the chances of success of such a non-conformist endeavour.

They met as carefree children, innocents who knew nothing of betrayal, deception, and the many traps of the human heart. Michael and Jannine were inseparable - or so they thought. But when World War II began and Michael?s father goes to war, his mother takes him to Seabright to wait until the war is over, and nothing would be the same between them. By the time their paths cross again, the world is no longer at war. Jannine is now engaged to Douglass, the sole grandchild of indomitable Idabelle Crawthers Hartford. As a new member of the aristocratic Hartford family, she can look forward to a life of comfort and safety, even as the demands of her heart tempt her to change her plans. The Hartfords are powerful, yet scandal has haunted them for years. When Thomas, Douglass?s father, defies his mother and marries Rebekah Gould of the local Jewish Society, he is quickly disinherited. The young lovers are cursed by scandal, and Rebekah dies before she can see their son, Douglass, grow into a man. Grief-stricken, Thomas takes Douglass home to his parents, but after a confrontation between his mother and Douglass, Thomas enrolls Douglass in a series of boarding schools, until Douglass enlists in World War II. Years later, as Jannine is about to marry Douglass, Michael returns to Crawthers Square. Jannine has a decision to make. Into all of the lives he touches is Marsh, an inveterate light bearer who teaches them all about the Season of the Flame.
According to the author, from the 1940's to the present time the U.S. government has involved itself in the deepest levels of secrecy involving an alien presence on the Earth. Should be read by all serious researchers looking for that "next level" of proof.
Acrobats is a steamy scandalous series of the intimate relationships and the not-so-great decisions humans make while dating. Dating in these times can be very much a circus show, and Acrobats has all the stunts.
Second World War British Military Camouflage offers an original approach to the cultures and geographies of military conflict, through a study of the history of camouflage. Isla Forsyth narrates the scientific biography of Dr Hugh Cott (1900-1987), eminent zoologist and artist turned camoufleur, and entwines this with the lives of other camouflage practitioners, to trace the sites of camouflage's developments. Moving through the scientists' fieldsite, the committee boardroom, the military training site and the soldiers' battlefield, this book uncovers the history of this ambiguous military invention, and subverts a long-dominant narrative of camouflage as solely a protective technology. This study demonstrates that, as camouflage transformed battlefields into unsettling theatres of war, there were lasting consequences not only for military technology and knowledge, but also for the ethics of battle and the individuals enrolled in this process.
