Explains the process for establishing calibration or correction factors for radiation detectors, charge sensitivity tests for high-gain electrometers, and irradiations of passive dosimeters. Calibrations are performed by comparing the instrument to a primary standard, which includes 4 free-air chambers for x-rays and cavity ionization chambers for ceseum-137 and cobalt-60 gamma rays. This document presents details of the design and use of these standards, as well as a description of the quality assurance checks. Appendices: Attix chamber schematics; history of the measurement of current; typical ionization chamber calibration report; typical TLD calibration report; and typical electrometer calibration report. Charts and tables.
