Modern society’s lifestyle is largely changing due to the economic and cultural globalisation that affects the homogeneous imagery of culture that results in the uniformity of taste, consumption, lifestyle, value, identity as well as individual interest. Furthermore, the readers will fathom how youth in Kuching, Sarawak Malaysia influence their purchase intention towards bubble milk tea. Finally, data gathered from the questionnaire survey have been analysed through SPSS software. Pearson Correlation test, independent T-test, and linear regression were used in this study. The results were displayed in the pie chart, bar chart, plot, and table to give the reader a more precise visualization and better understanding.
Bubble tea originated in Taiwan in the 1980s is fast gaining popularity among youth today. Most bubble tea recipes contain a tea base which is mixed with fruit juice or milk and served with chewy tapioca balls or fruit jelly. The objective of this research is to study the prevalence of bubble tea drinking culture and to explore the factors contributing to this trend. This study will adopt the consumer purchase decision framework by Schiffman and Kanuk (2007) which encompasses three main contributing factors: cognitive influences, emotional influences and situational influences. The study will also investigate the moderating effect of gender on the bubble tea purchasing decision. This study will be carried out among college and university students in the Klang Valley using a self-administered structured questionnaire. The analysis will incorporate descriptive statistics, regression and factor analysis.

The destruction of the tropical forests continues rapidly. We all know that this has global, ecological and economic consequences. The problem is of such magnitude that it can only be compared to warfare. The destruction of tropical forests is both detrimental to the global ecology as well as posing a serious threat to the people living in these areas. Furthermore, the overutilization of such a valuable resource poses a serious threat to the next generations. Besides the problem generated for the people in these regions, and for the earth in general, there is a moral obligation to preserve the vast biological diversity in the tropical forests. We have a commitment to all species on earth as well as man and, therefore, need to preserve as many as possible, if not all. This book discusses the problem from different angles: from forestry, ecology and nature conservation. The two main problem areas are: first the wise utilization of that portion of the forest which will be used - especially the introduction of planned forestry in such areas and second the development of a good plan for nature conservation in the tropics.

This book addresses the issue of how a country, which was incorporated into the world economy as a periphery, could make a transition to the emerging state, capable of undertaking the task of economic development and industrialization. It offers historical and contemporary case studies of transition, as well as the international background under which such a transition was successfully made (or delayed), by combining the approaches of economic history and development economics. Its aim is to identify relevant historical contexts, that is, the ‘initial conditions’ and internal and external forces which governed the transition. It also aims to understand what current low-income developing countries require for their transition. Three economic driving forces for the transition are identified. They are: (1) labor-intensive industrialization, which offers ample employment opportunities for labor force; (2) international trade, which facilitates efficient international division of labor; and (3) agricultural development, which improves food security by increasing supply of staple foods. The book presents a bold account of each driver for the transition.
