Step right up, enjoy the show, and pay no attention to the eyes watching from the darkness. The carnival is back in town, and for Jack Heldon, that's not a good sign. Since the last time it had come to the small and quiet Lensfield, Connecticut, he’s been plagued with nightmares of burning walls, raspy chuckles, and fiery red eyes in the dark. Ted Barton’s killing spree is still fresh in his mind, and Jack knows the carnival was behind it all. Now it’s back for more. But the people of Lensfield are none the wiser. As they are drawn into the lights and music of Ebenezer’s Carnival, evil begins to feed again. Jack and his friends are forced to come face to face with the horrors of their past, and the evil that tore them apart. While trying to break the carnival’s hold, they quickly realize that debts must be paid, and promises cannot be ignored. Because there’s no escaping the clutches of Ebenezer's Carnival and the screams within.
It's been a year since the Carousel, and John is struggling with his leadership of the house, as they continue to protect the world from the denizens of Hell and Bower's Fall. Meanwhile, Luke and Emma are attempting to rebuild their lives, until one night, Luke is kidnapped and coerced by a group of mercenaries who are determined to reach the far side of Hell, and have need of his particular skills. Immediately, Emma and John attempt a rescue, but their lives are thrown into chaos when they discover plans have been set in motion that coincide with Luke's kidnapping. Somehow, they must find a way to reach Luke before he opens the breach to a world-threatening catastrophe. Some gates should always remain closed.
They thought it was over. After a desperate, climactic battle, everyone assumed their genocidal Grand Father was dead, and they could forget that terrible night and rebuild their lives. But in order to defeat a monster, one of them had to become a monster. Mark Gannon was given the task of putting a stop to Anton Weiss’s killing, and in doing so was changed irreparably. While in pursuit, he stumbled upon a secret in the African desert that revealed their true origins and explained why a beloved ancestor had panicked and resorted to mass murder. Disgraced and exiled, after he failed to destroy Weiss completely, Mark and his friends returned to the desert to keep watch over the tomb of their strange forebears, only to discover that one of them was in the early stages of regeneration. Two years have passed, the House is rebuilt, and the exiles are due to return. But what will they bring with them?
Franco de Angelo, a vicious gangland criminal, stood in the dock scowling at the jury as he was sentenced. He was pronounced guilty and the judge gave him the maximum sentence. He told Franco that he and the jury thought he was a thoroughly bad lot. Franco vowed to take revenge on every last one of the jurors. He was taken from court, but escaped on his way to jail, together with the police wagon, and disappeared. Two years later the eleven remaining jurors were killed in the space of twenty-four hours. Detectives Bland and Boyd were brought in to track him down, and prevent him from killing again. However Franco had gone back to his secret identity, and the killing had not stopped.
Our war will not unfold in your imaginary heaven. We will fight on Earth with human beings as pawns and weapons. Lu Darlington is a seer, bound to the daemon Talion through ritual and blood. It’s not a role she enjoys, but she has little choice: daemons take what they want and destroy whoever stands in their way. So Lu’s surprised when Talion doesn’t punish her for her newfound ability to keep him from possessing her whenever he likes. In fact he’s pleased. The stronger she is, he explains, the more powerful he becomes. And he needs that power, because a war is brewing in the daemon world, a war that will be fought by—and through—humans. Lu’s friend Lisa Duncan can’t see daemons but she’s seen what they can do and so has stayed far away from Lu for years. But after a bizarre attack on Lisa leaves a man dead and she learns it’s only the first skirmish in the daemon war, Lisa realizes the safest place to be is with Lu. Then Talion sends Lu away to teach her skills to another seer and Lisa must stay behind to look after Lu’s son Solly, conceived through a daemon ceremony with Talion. At four years old Solly’s seer abilities are already so strong Lisa is sometimes more afraid of Solly than for him. As Talion’s enemies grow bolder, Lisa and Lu face attacks from every direction. There seems little hope any of them will survive—until Talion and his allies devise a plan. The only problem is how much it will cost.
The year is 1976. Veteran New Haven homicide detective Frank Suchy has finally learned to cope with the demons in his life and the daily pressure of ‘the job’—being exposed to every manner of death that could possibly befall someone—all the while celebrating his third year of sobriety. But when his best friend’s child is brutally murdered in broad daylight outside a downtown shopping mall, his world begins to deteriorate, bringing back the nightmares that he thought were locked away long ago. Recollections of his brief friendship with rock singer Jim Morrison (who he befriended at the 1967 New Haven concert where the singer was arrested onstage), and all the other terrible memories he had worked so hard to suppress…come pouring back. To make matters worse, there are external forces that threaten Detective Suchy’s wellbeing. Pressure from bureaucrats and the political elite to curtail any exposure of the case to the public in the wake of New Haven’s recent massive Urban Renewal Project, and the simmering racial and social divide between the minority communities against the police department in particular, send Detective Suchy over the edge. He spirals out of control in a desperate race against time to solve this horrendous case, hoping to somehow redeem his soul—and the city’s, for that matter—even if it means laying down his own life in the process. What Detective Suchy eventually uncovers is the seedy, horrifying underbelly of the 1970s.
