Minstrel? Spy? Witch? What is Mirin, really? She's a young girl. She's a boy. She loves her sister. She loves a man. More important, who is she? The gods have given her a task, to save a realm, to save a queen. In a brutal world where the young are forced to grow up fast, Mirin's story is about coming of age too soon, about love and betrayal. It's about the heavy costs of standing for a cause but standing for it anyway because it is the right. About finding the lost and finding yourself along the way. Book I of the Harbingers fantasy series. Part of the Stormclouds/Harbingers fantasy novels.
A modern fantasy novel inspired by the King Arthur legend… For hundreds of years, the Witch King’s sword has been buried in stone awaiting the next hand to draw it. Many have tried. None have succeeded. Gwen is the last in a long line of De Montfort witches whose duty it is to protect the sword of all power. But when she returns to King Island to perform the blessing, a mysterious pulse of blue light tells her that someone has attempted to draw the sword. Before she can investigate any further, demons attack. She only survives with the help of a mysterious stranger who disappears as quickly as he appears. Gwen and her grandmother, Moscelyne, soon discover that minor gateways into Darkside—the traditional home of both demons and dark elves—are being forced open by magic. Even worse, someone is now sending demons after the Witch King’s heirs. As vital artifacts are stolen by Darkside and the deaths draw altogether too close to home, Gwen and Mo—with the help of old gods and an ancient order of knights once thought dead—scramble to unravel the clues and stop the murderous would-be king from claiming the crown. If they fail and the wrong hand draws the sword of power, he can unlock the main gateway into Darkside and unleash utter hell onto an unsuspecting and unprepared England…. What people are saying about Keri Arthur’s Novels: Blackbird Rising was an intense and richly detailed novel. One that I still haven’t been able to get out of my head, and it’s been almost a week. I loved this novel and Arthur’s take on Arthurian legend, and the long term impact that lore would have. Quirky Cats Fat Stacks (of Books) OMG. Black Lightning—The Legacy of the Lockheed Blackbirds Revised edition of The Archangel and the Oxcart Black Lightning—The Legacy of the Lockheed Blackbirds—brings to life the unique and mesmerizing story of Kelly Johnson’s Lockheed Blackbirds; The A-12 Cygnus, M-21/D-21 mother daughter reconnaissance drone, the YF-12 Interceptor and of course, the magnificent SR-71. As the Cold War became more deadly, the United States needed to find answers to the Soviet Union and their dangerous games. As the USSR progressed in technology, the United States had a need to know what was happening on the other side of the Iron Curtain. The "spy on the ground" was not viable anymore. The CIA had to find an answer to replace that spy. Aerial Reconnaissance in the U.S. was in trouble. The USAF was recycling its WWII methods of aerial reconnaissance. The "Silent Warriors", those who took those reconnaissance missions unbeknowest to family and many in the military itself, were crews that were becoming casualties of the USSR MiGs faster than anyone thought possible. A new answer was needed and that answer was speed. Lockheed and the CIA came up with the speed, Mach 3 speed for the first time in aerial reconnaissance and aviation history. Black Lightning—The Legacy of the Lockheed Blackbirds tells the story of the men and aircraft that covered enemy territory, alone, and unarmed. These CIA pilots and their speed hungry aircraft returned the "photographic material" for the U.S. faster than ever before. Black Lightning—The Legacy of the Lockheed Blackbirds documents the history of the fastest aircraft ever known and the men that flew them.

A pictorial history of the legendary Lockheed spy plane, written by one of its pilots and “filled to the brim with information and revelation” (Seattle Post Intelligencer Travel for Aircraft blog). At the height of the Cold War in 1964, President Johnson announced a new aircraft dedicated to strategic reconnaissance. The Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird spy plane flew more than three-and-a-half times the speed of sound, so fast that no other aircraft could catch it. Above 80,000 feet, its pilots had to wear full-pressure flight suits similar to what was used aboard the space shuttle. Developed by the renowned Lockheed Skunk Works, the SR-71 was an awesome aircraft in every respect, and it took the world by storm. The SR-71 was in service with the US Air Force from 1964 to 1998, when it was withdrawn from use, superseded by satellite technology. Twelve of the thirty-two aircraft were destroyed in accidents, but none were ever lost to enemy action. Throughout its thirty-four-year career, the SR-71 was the world’s fastest and highest-flying operational manned aircraft. It set world records for altitude and speed: an absolute altitude record of 85,069 feet on July 28, 1974, and an absolute speed record of 2,193.2 miles per hour on the same day. On September 1, 1974, it set a speed and time record over a recognized course between New York and London (3,508 miles) of 1,435.587 miles per hour and an elapsed time of 1 hour, 54 minutes, 56.4 seconds. SR-71 covers every aspect of the plane’s development, manufacture, modification, and active service from the insider’s perspective of one its pilots—and is lavishly illustrated with more than 200 photos.
