Excerpt from Biennial Report of the State Auditor to the State Legislature, Session of 1893 Gentlemen - In compliance with the provisions of section four, act of the legislature approved March 27, 1890, entitled An act relating to the duties of state auditor, and providing for his salary and assistants, and declaring an emergency, I have the honor here with to submit the biennial report of this department, relating specially to the finances of the state, for the fiscal term ending October 31, 1892. The law makes it the duty of the state auditor to digest, pre pare and report to the legislature at the commencement of each biennial session. The law also provides that the report shall be printed and delivered to the governor for his transmission to the legislature, but fixes no date on which it Shall close. The last reg ular report from this department covered a period from the begin ning of the state government, November 18, 1889, to October 31, 1890, inclusive. Excerpt from Biennial Report of the State Auditor: For the Year Ending November 30, 1906 It is gratifying to be able to mention that there has been a substantial increase in the amount of assessed property for the past seven years. In 1899 the aggregate of assessments for taxation was In 1906 it has increased to a gain of sixty-eight per cent, and may be reasonably expected to continue as long as our present prosperous conditions prevail. This increase can be attributed to the agricultural and industrial growth and generally improved business condi tions now apparent throughout the State.
