Young people are looking forward, not backward, but as old age advances their thoughts revert to the past, to the scenes of their child hood, to their parentage, and the long ago. This change of view created a wish that the compiler might hand down to his children and to his children's child 'ren their ancestral history. To this wish, this brief sketch owes its existence.
