Aurora Boswell, an African American woman in her late forties, has worked her way up the corporate ladder at the City Conference and Exhibition Center in Memphis, Tennessee. But apparently, her ladder of success has just hit a very low ceiling. Trying to work hard and prove herself worthy of advancement does nothing to convince those above her that Aurora deserves to be promoted. She is repeatedly denied promotions while younger, less-qualified employees are given the higher-paying jobs for which she applies. After being harassed by some of her female coworkers, Aurora files a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and is wrongfully terminated from her job. The backstabbing, lying, and underhanded tactics used by Executive Director Gary Davis and his "band of idiots" are not just unnerving, but are proof positive of the lows to which people will stoop to make another's life miserable. Aurora's immediate supervisor, Lou Ann Houser, is not a bright woman, and her scheming ways just might come back to haunt her once the case reaches the courtroom. Aurora's lawyer is determined to prove to the court the real personalities of the people in management. Will Aurora have the personal strength to stand up and fight for her rights?
I have a secret. Darkness exists. I try to hide, but where can I go when it lives inside me? On the run from those who want to kill me, I’ve made an uneasy alliance and found a new home. Everything is going just fine until a coven of witches walk into the pub where I work. Broody, sexy, and scary as hell, I’m determined to avoid them, no matter how much attraction sizzles between us. But Ezra, Alexander, Jason, and Benjamin have no intention of leaving me alone. They’re the council’s finest hunters, and they recognize the darkness that lives inside me, even if they don’t know what it is. They’re in town on a mission and agree to hold off turning me in. Which means I have limited time to convince them I’m not a bad person. The darkness inside me is growing, though, and when it breaks free in public, I’ll be forced to face the consequence. The only question is, can I trust these men who I feel a bond with, or will it lead to my destruction? p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Helvetica} p.p2 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Helvetica; min-height: 14.0px}
In helping someone I love, I lost my life. Or did I? Cut off from my body, I live in the home of a god who’s willing to train me, to help me fully embrace my powers, both as a witch and as a reaper. But while I lay in a coma, the men I left behind suffer, desperate to find a way to bring me back. I want to return to them, but our family is not complete. One is missing, a member of the coven who was lost before they found me. And I must go on a quest to Purgatory and bring him back, or we’ll forever be incomplete. I’m coming home to my men, to my family, but will my return bring relief or doom us all?
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING SERIES • The squad you love is out of time. Prepare for the thrilling finale in the epic, best-selling Aurora Cycle series about a band of unlikely heroes who just might be the galaxy's last hope for survival. Is this the end? What happens when you ask a bunch of losers, discipline cases, and misfits to save the galaxy from an ancient evil? The ancient evil wins, of course. Wait. . . . Not. So. Fast. When we last saw Squad 312, they working together seamlessly (aka, freaking out) as an intergalactic battle raged and an ancient superweapon threatened to obliterate Earth. Everything went horribly wrong, naturally. But as it turns out, not all endings are endings, and the team has one last chance to rewrite theirs. Maybe two. It's complicated. Cue Zila, Fin, and Scarlett (and MAGELLAN!): making friends, making enemies, and making history? Sure, no problem Cue Tyler, Kal, and Auri: uniting with two of the galaxy’s most hated villains? Um, okay. That, too. Actually saving the galaxy, though? Now that will take a miracle.
Consequences follow actions. Actions determine worthiness. Worthiness costs more than believed. When 118-year-old warrior Aurora is banished to Earth from her home world—the Gold Planet of Andorra—she loses her powerful sword and Special Power (the ability to control fire). On Earth, Aurora finds herself in the world of the Death Givers—a superhero organization tasked with stopping the dreaded Disappearances (kidnappings) from overwhelming the nation of Blood Dawn (formerly known as North America). While helping the Death Givers stop the Disappearances, Aurora struggles with keeping her true identity—she is a vampire!—from Earth’s humans and deciding where exactly a romance with one of the Death Givers fits into the life that she becomes a part of. Will Aurora return home and regain her sword and her Special Power after her reckless actions ignite a deadly war? Or will she fall victim to a sacrifice curse that will cost her everything, including her worthiness and her life?
A broken-winged angel trying to get home. Her escort a nocturnal huntress with a bloody past. Her decision to rescue Evie and to help her get home safely, despite avians being infamous for selling out shapeshifters like Aurora to cutters and black-market flesh dealers, will put her on a perilous path. As the women travel together their attraction grows but Aurora is guarding her lonely heart almost as much as her dangerous secrets and Evie is struggling to accept how important Aurora has become to her. When their enemies conspire to kill them, they may be each other's only hope. Aurora is powerful but she's also emotionally scarred and it will be up to Evie to save her from herself and to fight for them - or innocent people will die along with the guilty ones and Aurora will disappear from Evie's life forever.

Aurora Leigh (1856), Elizabeth Barrett Browning's epic novel in blank verse, tells the story of the making of a woman poet, exploring 'the woman question', art and its relation to politics and social oppression. The texts in this selection are based in the main on the earliest printed versions of the poems. What Edgar Allan Poe called 'her wild and magnificent genius' is abundantly in evidence. In addition to Aurora Leigh, this volume contains poetry from the several volumes of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's published poetry from 1826 to 1862, including Casa Guidi Windows (1851), Songs for the Ragged Schools of London (1854) and the British Library manuscript text of the 'Sonnets from the Portuguese' (1846) which records her courtship with Robert Browning.
