Philarious Anson was born at Baltimore, Maryland, the son of Henry and Catherine Anson. He married Catherine Fresh in 1778 in St. Pauls Parish, Maryland. They had three children, ca. 1780-1784. He died in 1786 in Maryland. His widow, Catherine, married 2) Michael Hoss. They had nine children. The family migrated to Kentucky. Michael Hoss died there. Catherine Hoss, her children and grandchildren, migrated from Logan County, Kentucky to Missouri, 1823-1826. Francis Anson and his family lived in Lincoln and Pike Counties, Missouri. The Jacob and Elizabeth Anson Igo family settled in Pike and Lincoln Counties, Missouri, many remained; others went south to Tanney County, Missouri, or to Oklahoma or Texas. Henry and many of his family migrated to Iowa from Missouri. The Hoss family lived in Lincoln and Warren Counties, Missouri.
Henry Laughter (1719-1771) was possibly the original Laughter to come to the United States. One source said that he came from England. The first record found in America was on 20 March 1742 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina.
