Il a, il est vrai, travaille aussi dans d'autres domaines; ces occupations, etrangeres a la science ont meme a plusieurs reprises, surtout au cours des dernieres annees de son sejour a Buitenzorg empeche treue de travailler a des recherches scientifiques; cependant, pour lui, c'est toujours la science qui a occupe la premiere place.
