David Brainerd was born April 20, L718, M at Haddam, a town belonging to the county of Hartford, in the colony of Connee'ticut, New England. His father, who died when he was about nine years of age, was the woi' 'llpfijl Hezekiah Brainerd, Efq; one of his Majc y's council fox: that colony, and the fon of Daniel Brainerd, Efq: a jufiice ofthe peace, and a deacon ofthe church in Haddam. His mother was Mrs, Dorothy Hobart, daughter to the Rev.
