Henry stretcher was born 1637, according to a deposition by him November 20, 1704, recorded in the Court Docket of Sussex County, in possession of the Pennsylvania Historical Society. In this deposition he deposes that he is about 67 years old, also that he purchased a certain piece of land 27 years ago. The first reference to Henry Stretcher is a patent recorded at Georgetown, Sussex County, Delaware, as follows.
