M. Leonard 9/5 There are over eight million animal species on our planet, and rabbits may be the cutest of them all. It’s no wonder people love keeping these cuddly creatures as pets. Thinking about raising one of your own? Before you do, read up on these important rabbit facts! Rabbits have many appealing qualities that make them such great pets. When they are happy, you’ll know it by the binky, a special move that a bunny makes. When a rabbit does one, it runs around, jumps up, and does a twist in the air. Contented bunnies also chatter their teeth together in the rabbit version of a cat’s purr, especially when being petted. Surprised? You may be even more surprised to learn that bunnies can be house-trained. You can teach a pet rabbit to use a litter box, just like a cat. This means that there’s no need to keep it in a cage—a good thing because bunnies are easily bored. They’d rather run around the house, have lots of toys to play with, and hang out with their humans. And since they clean themselves several times a day, you won’t need to worry about bathing them. 9/6 If you do decide to raise a rabbit, remember that they are not starter pets, and they are not a good choice for young children. Also, you’ll have to “bunny-proof” your home. Rabbits’ teeth never stop growing, so they like to chew on things. Be sure to provide your rabbit with hard wooden chew toys, and keep electrical wires out of reach! When it comes to feeding your pet rabbit, think green. The idea that rabbits live on carrots is just plain wrong. Rabbits in the wild eat plants like grass and clover, and your bunny should, too. Additionally, keep in mind that some rabbits grow very large. The Flemish Giant, for instance, can reach 75 centimeters in length and can weigh up to 10 kilograms. Know all the details before taking a bunny home. Above all, be sure that you want this responsibility. A rabbit isn’t a cute toy to be bought today and forgotten tomorrow. It will need your care for all 8 to 12 years of its life. In return, you will gain a loving animal friend who will make your days brighter. Now, bring on the bunnies!
Learn how to overcome fear and relieve your anxiety through cognitive behavioral therapy. Many of the available resources for managing anxiety are based on opinion rather than science. Dr. Craig April, founder of The April Center for Anxiety Attack Management, relies on the latter. By employing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), he helps readers overcome fear for the anxiety relief they desire. Assuming the role of victim when it comes to anxiety can make us feel trapped and convince us that we have no control in getting better. However, Dr. April has found that in most of its forms, anxiety is not a mental health disorder. In fact, anxiety relief begins by facing our fears. Using a stripped-down, no-nonsense approach to anxiety, Dr. April takes CBT techniques and tackles anxiety at the root: false fear messages. Fear is a factor in all lives, whether we feel it plays a significant role in controlling us or not. Lucky for us, it is also something that can be faced. By recognizing anxiety as a result of false fear messages, we become better equipped to manage it. An expert in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for anxiety relief, Dr. April uses over twenty years of experience to help readers face their fears and overcome their anxiety. In this indispensable book on anxiety relief for adults, you’ll discover: Effective anti-anxiety methods used at The April Center for Anxiety Attack ManagementA non-victim approach to help you take back control and reclaim your lifeTips and practical tools to overcome fear Praise for The Anxiety Getaway “With humor and compassion, Dr. Craig April tells you to “do the work to claim your calm” and shows you the path to get there. Controlling EU Agencies launches the debate on how to build a comprehensive system of controls in light of the ongoing trends of agencification and Europeanisation of the executive in the EU.
This book offers an institutional history of the British Legation in Kabul, which was established in response to the independence of Afghanistan in 1919. It contextualises this diplomatic mission in the wider remit of Anglo-Afghan relations and diplomacy from the nineteenth to the twenty-first century, examining the networks of family and profession that established the institution’s colonial foundations and its connections across South Asia and the Indian Ocean. The study presents the British Legation as a late imperial institution, which materialised colonialism's governmental practices in the age of independence. Ultimately, it demonstrates the continuation of asymmetries forged in the Anglo-Afghan encounter and shows how these were transformed into instances of diplomatic inequality in the realm of international relations. Approaching diplomacy through the themes of performance, the body and architecture, and in the context of knowledge transfers, this work offers new perspectives on international relations through a cultural history of diplomacy.
The collective complaints procedure was created in 1995 as an optional quasi-jurisdictional monitoring mechanism specific for the protection of social rights, within the framework of the Council of Europe treaty system of the European Social Charter. In recent years, the importance and use of this procedure has increased considerably, in the context of a number of serious economic and social crises which are impacting negatively on the effective enjoyment of social rights in Europe. This short monograph explores and clarifies the specific features, the potential and limits of the collective complaints procedure, intended as a sui generis instrument for the protection of social rights, in the light of its evolutive application by the European Committee of Social Rights (the monitoring body of the European Social Charter) and its real impact on the state and conditions of social rights in the European countries concerned.

This book investigates the role of law in enabling and addressing the barriers to the development of off-grid renewable electricity (OGRE). The limited development of OGRE is ascribed to a host of social, economic, and legal barriers, including the problem of initial capital costs, existing subsidies for conventional electricity, and lack of technological and institutional capacity. Through the analyses of selected case studies from Africa, Asia, Europe and North and South America, this book discusses the typical barriers to the development of OGRE from a global perspective and examines the role of the law in addressing them. Drawing together the lessons learnt from the case studies, this book offers robust recommendations on how the development of OGRE will support the goal of achieving universal access to low carbon, reliable, and sustainable electricity globally. This volume will be of great interest to students, scholars, policy makers, investors, and practitioners in the fields of energy law and policy, climate change, and renewable energy development.
The Constitutional Framework for Enhanced Cooperation in EU Law analyses the primary-law framework of the flexibility tool of “enhanced cooperation”. Against the background of recent Member State practice, Robert Böttner redefines its constitutional rules and draws conclusions on its potential for European integration.
This book examines the practices of contesting evidence in democratically constituted knowledge societies. It provides a multifaceted view of the processes and conditions of evidence criticism and how they determine the dynamics of de- and re-stabilization of evidence. Evidence is an essential resource for establishing claims of validity, resolving conflicts, and legitimizing decisions. In recent times, however, evidence is being contested with increasing frequency. Such contestations vary in form and severity – from questioning the interpretation of data or the methodological soundness of studies to accusations of evidence fabrication. The contributors to this volume explore which actors, for what reasons and to what effect, question evidence in fields such as the biological, environmental and health sciences. In addition to actors inside academia, they examine the roles of various other players, including citizen scientists, counter-experts, journalists, patients, consumers and activists. The contributors tackle questions of how disagreements are framed and how they are used to promote vested interests. By drawing on methodological and theoretical approaches from a wide range of fields, this book provides a much-needed perspective on how evidence criticism influences the development and state of knowledge societies and their political condition. Evidence Contestation will appeal to scholars and advanced students working in philosophy of science, epistemology, bioethics, science and technology studies, the history of science and technology and science communication.
