If you’ve written a book, or always wanted to publish a book online, but had no clue how to go about it, this is the book for you. Editorial Review: Read what an established author Howard Popeck) has to say. "Clearly, this guide has been written by a person who has actually been ‘there’ and done ‘it’ rather than recycling the experiences of others. Superficially, the guide seems simplistic, but it would be a mistake to assume that, because the text is clear, uncomplicated and jargon-free. It told me pretty much everything I needed to know as a writer who has not previously engaged in this sort of thing before. I hesitate to say that all you need for success here is the book + determination but, it’s close, very close. The author makes no facile claims about her guide, and I like that. If you have only latent talent and are a bit nervous, but ambitious, this guide is for you."

The Key to Yellow Workbook gives clear, thoroughly-explained answers to all exercises in the Yellow Workbook, one of four non-sequential workbooks in the Grammar for the Well-Trained Mind series, providing detailed, well-designed exercises in the correct use of English grammar for middle-school and high-school level students, as well as grammar aficionados of any age. The Key to Yellow Workbook gives clear, thoroughly-explained answers to all exercises in the Yellow Workbook, one of four non-sequential books in the Grammar for the Well-Trained Mind series, providing detailed, well-designed exercises in the correct use of English grammar. The Key, along with the accompanying Yellow Workbook and the Core Instructor Text, make up Grammar for the Well-Trained Mind: a complete course that takes students from basic definitions (“A noun is the name of a person, place, thing, or idea”) through advanced sentence structure and analysis, all the grammar skills needed to write and speak with eloquence and confidence. This innovative program combines the three essential elements of language learning: understanding and memorizing rules (prescriptive teaching), repeated exposure to examples of how those rules are used (descriptive instruction), and practice using those rules in exercises and in writing (practical experience). Each year, parents and teachers go through the dialogue, rules, and examples in the Core Instructor Text; students follow along in the Workbook. This repetition solidifies the concepts, definitions, and examples in the student’s mind. There are four Workbooks, one for each year. Each Workbook contains the same rules and examples, but four completely different sets of exercises and assignments, allowing students to develop a wide-ranging knowledge of how the rules and examples are put to use in writing. Each Key to the Workbooks provides not only answers, but also explanations for the parent/instructor, and guidance as to when the answers might be ambiguous (as, in English, they often are). All of the rules covered, along with the repeated examples for each, are assembled for ongoing reference in The Grammar Guidebook. Every step of the sentence diagramming process is gathered for reference, along with illustrations, in The Diagramming Dictionary. These will become the student’s indispensable guide to writing through high school, into college and beyond. Step-by-step instruction takes students from the most basic concepts through advanced grammatical concepts such as modal and hortative verbs and multiple functions of noun clauses. Extensive diagramming exercises reinforce the rules and help technical and visual learners to understand and use the English language effectively. Each step of the diagramming process is illustrated and thoroughly explained to the student. Text for examples and exercises are drawn from great works of literature, as well as from well-written nonfiction texts in science, mathematics, and the social sciences. Regular review is built into each year of work. The Key accompanies one of four non-sequential workbooks, each containing new exercises that allow students to practice and apply the grammar principles under study.
An essential component of your competency assessment and training program, the companion guide and assessment record contains: In-dept review material to highlight and reinforce the video presentation, exercises to enhance understanding of key concepts, summary checklists, assessment questions, and an individual assessment record to document completion of the program.
Big Digital Humanities has its origins in a series of seminal articles Patrik Svensson published in the Digital Humanities Quarterly between 2009 and 2012. As these articles were coming out, enthusiasm around Digital Humanities was acquiring a great deal of momentum and significant disagreement about what did or didn’t “count” as Digital Humanities work. Svensson’s articles provided a widely sought after omnibus of Digital Humanities history, practice, and theory. They were informative and knowledgeable and tended to foreground reportage and explanation rather than utopianism or territorial contentiousness. In revising his original work for book publication, Svensson has responded to both subsequent feedback and new developments. Svensson’s own unique perspective and special stake in the Digital Humanities conversation comes from his role as director of the HUMlab at Umeå University. HUMlab is a unique collaborative space and Digital Humanities center, which officially opened its doors in 2000. According to its own official description, the HUMlab is an open, creative studio environment where “students, researchers, artists, entrepreneurs and international guests come together to engage in dialogue, experiment with technology, take on challenges and move scholarship forward.” It is this last element “moving scholarship forward” that Svensson argues is the real opportunity in what he terms the “big digital humanities,” or digital humanities as practiced in collaborative spaces like the HUMlab, and he is uniquely positioned to take an account of this evolving dimension of Digital Humanities practice.
Most self-publishers focus their time and attention on publishing ebooks. And when they do publish in print they tend to use either Word or Vellum or the print option provided by D2D. For those who want to move beyond the constraints of these choices, Affinity Publisher is one of the best options available. It's a one-time purchase software that allows for a fully-customized print layout. The only limitation is the skill of the user. This book aims to give beginners to Affinity Publisher the skills to create a basic print layout for a fiction title that includes a title page, also by page, copyright information, about the author, and, of course, the main body of the document. The layout created in this book also includes an image in the front matter, back matter, and chapter starts to add a little something extra. To use this book you should be familiar with the basics of how to work in a Microsoft Office-type program, so know what dropdowns, dialogue boxes, etc. are. Ideally you should also know the basics of formatting for print although that will be mentioned as we go. So if you're ready to take your print fiction formatting to the next level, then click buy and let's get started.
