In this collection of peer-reviewed papers are to be found original ideas and new points of view on aspects of materials engineering, architectural engineering and informatization. Herein, researchers exchange innovative ideas from new perspectives; thus providing guidance to scientists, physicists, chemists, teachers and others worldwide. These proceedings are from a November 2011 international conference held in Wuhan, China. Some 120 contributions -- all authored by Chinese academics and researchers -- are organized into two sections on material engineering and its application, and material science and manufacturing technology. A sampling of topics includes: circular inclined concrete-filled steel tubular stub columns subjected to axial compression, multi-agents based distributed data integration, distributive regularities of the fluid pressure in elbow pipes, treatment of raw water with ultrafiltration membrane/PAC, experimental study on the EFI engine fueled with LPG, the new progress of nickel sulfide synthesis, kinetics of sulfuric acid leaching of boron slurry, cloud computing model and REST APIs implementation, a new outlier detection algorithms based on Markov chain, pressurized microwave-assisted extraction of isoflavones from soy, and a mechanical investigation on altered rocks in tunnel construction.
Collection of selected, peer reviewed papers from the 2014 4th International Conference on Industry, Information System and Material Engineering (IISME2014), July 26-27, 2014, Nanjing, China. Materials science and engineering (MSE) contributes to our everyday lives by making possible technologies ranging from the automobiles we drive to the lasers our physicians use. Materials Science and Engineering for the 1990s charts the impact of MSE on the private and public sectors and identifies the research that must be conducted to help America remain competitive in the world arena. The authors discuss what current and future resources would be needed to conduct this research, as well as the role that industry, the federal government, and universities should play in this endeavor.
