How do we walk with Christ—daily follow him, grow in him, and faithfully serve him? In the Gospels, Jesus modeled for us the Christian spiritual life. The apostles taught it in their writings. And the Church has, through the last 2,000 years, sought to pursue this Christian spiritual life. In The Walk, Adam Hamilton focuses on five essential spiritual practices that are rooted in Jesus’ own walk with God and taught throughout the New Testament. Each of these practices is intended as part of our daily walk with Christ while also being an essential part of growing together in the church. In each chapter, Hamilton explores one of these practices, its New Testament foundation, and what it looks like to pursue this practice daily in our personal life and together in the life of the church. Deepen your walk with Christ as we explore the five essential practices of worship, study, serving, giving, and bearing witness to our faith. Additional components for a six-week adult study include a comprehensive Leader Guide and a DVD featuring the engaging teachings of author and pastor Adam Hamilton. Also available are resources for children and youth.
"This innovative, interdisciplinary resource designed specifically for Early Years educators, outlines an imaginative and ecological approach to taking student learning outside school walls. Specifically, it shapes A Walking Curriculum (Judson, 2018) for primary-aged learners. Educators in urban, suburban, and even rural areas often have few imagination-focused curricular resources that can develop students' sense of ecological understanding, through play, wonder, and walking - this resource can help fill that gap. This book includes 33 walking themes paired with cognitive tools to engage emotion and imagination in learning. Each walk describes how to introduce, follow up, and play with each walk. The walks can be used in any context to develop students' sense of Place and to enrich their understanding of curricular topics. Engaging students' imaginations within these settings through the use of cognitive tools will broaden their awareness of the unique characteristics of Place and evoke their sense of wonder and learning. The walks and imagination-focused learning activities that go with them provide opportunities for educators to further develop students' sense-making abilities, allowing for the learning experiences to be meaningful and authentic. As co-learners, educators and students will bring learning to life through taking action, building community, and sparking imagination and fun."--
This dialogue between two of the most prominent thinkers on social change in the twentieth century was certainly a meeting of giants. Throughout their highly personal conversations recorded here, Horton and Freire discuss the nature of social change and empowerment and their individual literacy campaigns.
Every parent and teacher wants to see their children make good choices, grow in wisdom, and learn how to live a God-honoring life. But Christian parents know that teaching good morals isn't enough. Kids (and adults) need gospel power in order to "wise up!" Christians through the centuries have used the book of Proverbs to teach children the godly wisdom needed to navigate their everyday lives. Wise Up, by author and family pastor Marty Machowski, is a two-part discipleship resource geared to help children grown in the true wisdom that is only found in Christ. Wise Up offers two separate discipleship tools. The first product is a family devotional, Wise Up: Ten-Minute Family Devotions in Proverbs, which will help make learning the truths of Proverbs fun and memorable for the whole family. Each compact session features Bible reading, discussion questions, a fun activity, and a song to keep children engaged in making gospel-motivated, good choices. Each wisdom theme in Wise Up is carefully and repeatedly connected to the good news of Jesus's life, death, resurrection, and coming return. Wise Up moves families beyond the practical wisdom of Proverbs to connect the teaching of Solomon to God's larger story of salvation. Also available in this series is the companion twelve-week curriculum, which is designed to connect the teaching of Proverbs to God's larger story of salvation. Children will learn that Solomon's wisdom, life, and failures all point to "something greater than Solomon"—they point to Jesus. The goal of this curriculum is to present the wisdom of Proverbs against the backdrop of the gospel to show children that real wisdom comes only as we depend on Jesus for daily help and forgiveness. Each lesson includes Bible reading, discussion questions, object lessons, a fun activity, and songs for families from the companion Walking with the Wise music CD by Sovereign Grace Music. This curriculum includes three learning levels—preschool and kindergarten (ages 4–6), elementary (ages 6–9), and middle school (ages 10–12).
