Excerpt from A Translation of the Epistle of the Apostle Paul to the Romans: With an Introduction and Critical Notes The foregoing details, some of which will perhaps be thought to be trivial and of too personal a character, have been stated, first, with the object of shewing that I have not inconsiderately entered upon this arduous task, nor without due preparation; and, again, to put on record my sense of the advantage I, in common with many others, possess in having learnt, by means of the Cambridge system of teaching Classics, how to translate Greek, and, in particular, the Greek of the New Testament, with pre cision. So great do I consider this advantage that I am glad to see the means of partaking of it within reach of all denominations of my fellow-countrymen.
