At the time of the study, no formal comprehensive parental involvement plan was in effect. A parental involvement faculty survey was administered to the teachers at Miller County Elementary School and Miller County High School (Georgia). The faculty survey was designed to determine the perceptions of the teachers in the Miller County School System concerning current parental involvement in each school. Results from the survey revealed a contradiction in the beliefs of the teachers. The findings indicated that teachers in the Miller County School System regarded parental participation as being important although a minimal amount of parental participation in the classroom was reported. Recommendations included a written policy outlining parental involvement, personnel trained to promote home/school collaboration and attain funds, assessment of needs, appropriate staff development, and the development of a three-year parental involvement plan.
