Excerpt from A Supplement to a Table Chronologically Arranged of the Statutes of the State of New York, Amended, Repealed, Continued, or Otherwise Modified or Affected, Covering the Laws Passed From the Session of 1887 to the Close of the Session of 1894: Also a Table Showing the Changes in the Revised Statutes and Codes, Especially Arranged for the Use With Birdseye's Revised Statutes In bringing the book down through the laws of 1894, it will be understood that no attempt has been made to do over again the work that was contained in the original edition. For all changes prior to 1887 the first two volumes must be consulted. Since 1887, and especially since the publication of Birdseye's Re vised Statutes, Codes and General Laws in 1890, many of the general statutes, and almost all of the remainder of the original Revised Statutes then in force, have been repealed and revised by the Statu tory Revision Commission. Many important subjects yet remain to be revised, and until the work of the Commission is complete it would be quite useless to undertake to publish a new edition of the Re vised Statutes, Codes and General Laws. For this reason the plan of the present work has been somewhat changed from that of the original Table of Statutes, that it may serve as a sort of a supple ment also to the Revised Statutes, Codes and General Laws. The repealing statutes of the Revision Commission have not in most cases been intended to sweep the old laws out of existence in the ordinary sense, but simply to repeal such statutes as had been incorporated into and continued in the revision.
