Excerpt from A Summer's Cruise in the Yacht "Swordfish," Auxiliary Yawl In writing up this little yarn, the skipper hopes it may prove as interesting to those who read it, as it has to him in recalling the many events and incidents. The happenings of many years are chronicled in it; some of the memories are sad, some of them joyful, some funny, and some strenuous; all of them are from the logs of many cruises, and the story seems to have taken on much of the abruptness of a log, but had it been otherwise, it would have spun out to a great length, and I fear, have become monotonous. As it is I feel constrained to apologize for the many defects in it and to ask the reader's kind consideration of the fact that compiling the various small particles making up the whole story was no small task and took much more time than was anticipated. In closing, let me dedicate this little book to the many good chums of both sexes, who have sailed with me, and who have put much of pleasure into my life. May they reap in full measure the good they have sown. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
