From master storyteller Barbara Taylor Bradford comes a magnificent new novel, a powerful, moving story of two women, two families, and an extraordinary friendship challenged by tragedy and a devastating secret from the past.... Some secrets are too terrible to share--even with your best friend.... Nothing hurts like the truth. A truth that has haunted Claire Benson all her life. A truth that Claire has revealed to no one, not even to her best friend, International art dealer Laura Valiant. But the friendship that has sheltered both women throughout childhood, marriage and divorce is about to meet its greatest test. Suddenly old nightmares surface as Claire turns to her dearest friend for help. And as Laura's career leads her into the past, in an investigation of artwork stolen by the Nazis, she uncovers disturbing links to the present, to Claire, and a profoundly personal reason to follow a twisted trail to its surprising end....
Can we save ourselves, or do we rely on others to do it? Is what we believe always the truth?
Tom Wethers is a simple man living a simple life. But due to a change in prosperity and lifestyle, he finds himself in a place where the unimaginable can and does happen to himand where his heart leads him in a direction he never thought possible. All his loved ones have forgiven him, but he soon realises that forgiving himself will be his most difficult challenge. His change of heart opens new doors and introduces him to new individuals and new accomplishments. The doors remain open for him to enter and exit as he pleases, but he cannot keep the individuals under control. His accomplishments help him; they steer him in the right direction, one that could fix the depressive thoughts that plague him. But it is his accomplishments that are the causes for Toms depression. The individuals who come out of all of his accomplishments clutter his mind and, more importantly, his heart. Only time will tell if hell be able to get his life back in order. In this novel, a man serving as a lifeline for others finds an unexpected love in the midst of a deep depression.

by JULIEN IE HOFFMAN One of the earliest coronary physiologists was Scaramucci who, in 1695, postu lated that during systole the contracting myocardium inhibited coronary blood flow. Since then, the many contributions that have been made to our knowledge of the coronary circulation can be arbitrarily divided into three phases based on advances in technical methods. The early phase of research into the coronary circulation, done with great difficulty with crude methods, may be regarded as ending in the 1940s, and it included major discoveries made by such well known investigators as Georg von Anrep, Ernest Starling, Carl Wiggers, and Louis Katz, who formulated much of our basic understanding of the field. After 1940, the field of coronary physiology entered a new phase when instruments for high fidelity registration of coronary flow and pressure became available. This era was domi nated by Donald Gregg who combined careful attention to the function of these instruments (some of which he helped to develop) with an extraordinary ability to discern mechanisms from apparently minor changes in coronary flow and pressure patterns. His book 'The Coronary Circulation in Health and Disease' set a new standard in the field. After 1960, techniques for measuring regional myocardial blood flow became available, and enabled a large group of eminent investigators to make major advances in understanding the physiology and pathophysiology of myocardial blood flow.
