A Product of a Pimp and a Prostitute is a heart-warming memoir about forgiveness. The tales of drug-induced theft and other crimes will capture you. The story of grace and forgiveness will change you.
This is the story of a pimp, Shame, the women he uses and abuses and how he recruited and maintained them on the street. First the street is revealed through Shame's mother, Latisa, as she works for different pimps, including a pimp/gambler who uses her to entice customers with live sex shows until they crossed organized crime. Shame has many run-ins with the law as a juvenile, but escapes detention while attending his mother's funeral. He falls in love, but is rejected when his lover finds out how old he is. As an adult, he encounters a couple of seasoned prostitutes. He convinces them to make him the kind of pimp they want. He quickly develops into a pimp like the rest of the vultures on the street. In the course of his initiation, a gangster pimp forcibly takes one of his women. Her wife-in-law attempts to rescue her. Shame moves on, recruiting young victims and learning from other pimps the ins and outs of the street. He meets a young woman and against the unwritten rules of the street falls in love. Fighting against his feelings he cons her into believing he's in trouble to get her into prostitution. When she finds out he is a pimp, she turns on him. She is kidnapped and drugged into submission. She tries to escape, but is found dead of a drug overdose. A policewoman who grew up with the drug victim conducts her own investigation. She goes undercover as a prostitute and another of Shame's women dies in a suspicious manner. She joins forces with a D.C. vice detective and they obtain enough evidence to get Shame arrested. The very dramatic trial does not turn out the way they expected and the victims of Shame decide to get their own justice.

"This book speaks about leaders pimping and prostituting the Body of Christ, leaving faithful givers and supporters hopeless, broke, spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and sometimes physically. God has given Bishop WH Dawkins, Jr. a mandate to expose many of the schemes and tricks the enemy has used to bamboozle the people of God and minister a word of healing, deliverance, and wholeness."--Page 4 of cover.
An astonishingly brave memoir of prostitution and its lingering influence on a woman’s psyche and life. “The best work by anyone on prostitution ever, Rachel Moran’s Paid For fuses the memoirist’s lived poignancy with the philosopher’s conceptual sophistication. The result is riveting, compelling, incontestable. Impossible to put down. This book provides all anyone needs to know about the reality of prostitution in moving, insightful prose that engages and disposes of every argument ever raised in its favor.” —Catharine A. MacKinnon, law professor, University of Michigan and Harvard University Born into a troubled family, Rachel Moran left home at the age of fourteen. Being homeless, she was driven into prostitution to survive. With intelligence and empathy, she describes the exploitation she and others endured on the streets and in the brothels. Moran also speaks to the psychological damage inherent to prostitution and the inevitable estrangement from one’s body. At twenty-two, Moran escaped the sex trade. She has since become a writer and an abolitionist activist.
Given away by her mother at five months old, raped on the day of her first communion at age seven - when Celine Roberts was told 'No one wants you', she believed it. Illegitimate and unwanted, Celine was forced by her foster mother into prostitution. Her bones were broken, her nose was crushed and she ate candle wax to stay alive. Celine was finally rescued and sent to an industrial school, where she picked up the pieces of her shattered life. She also began the search for her parents. But what she found gave her battered survival instincts the hardest knock of all ... Full of the most heartbreaking tragedy but ultimately survival and hope, No One Wants You is the remarkably honest and compelling memoir of a woman triumphing over her brutal past.
“[In Pimp], Iceberg Slim breaks down some of the coldest, capitalist concepts I’ve ever heard in my life.” —Dave Chappelle, from his Nextflix special The Bird Revelation Pimp sent shockwaves throughout the literary world when it published in 1969. Iceberg Slim’s autobiographical novel offered readers a never-before-seen account of the sex trade, and an unforgettable look at the mores of Chicago’s street life during the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. In the preface, Slim says it best, “In this book, I will take you, the reader, with me into the secret inner world of the pimp.” An immersive experience unlike anything before it, Pimp would go on to sell millions of copies, with translations throughout the world. And it would have a profound impact upon generations of writers, entertainers, and filmmakers, making it the classic hustler’s tale that never seems to go out of style.
Think of a pimp and you think of a blood sucking leach. Unlike madams, who employ prostitutes and share the wealth, pimps live off the sweat of the whore, taking her money, controlling her life. Sugar Pimp is the story of G. Gerri Goldstein who began her career as a carefree schoolgirl learning her craft from Colleen, a needy Irish lass who would sell her soul for a kind word or a pat on the head. Set during the Second World War, a time when the black pimp ruled, Gerri merged into the life attracting a stable of prostitutes. A rarity, this small white woman, who could command the total devotion of her whores, while freely plying a trade dominated by the black male. Sugar Pimp provides a glimpse into the lives of women who turn to other women for nurturing, acceptance and sexual gratification. Since satisfying male customers is the way a prostitute earns her keep, she quickly learns the fastest way to make a buck is to turn off, tune out, and just get the job done. Alone, rejected by society, these emotionally starved women are easy prey for a pimp who may either beat or love them: A gorilla pimp using his fists to let the whore know she belongs to him or the sugar pimp who uses psychological control to take the whore's earnings, each preying on the worthlessness all prostitutes feel. Meet the characters: Gerri the pimp; her whores, Jolene, Lulu Bell, Colleen, Yvonne, and Betsy; her gopher, Max the bartender; the maker of her sex toys, Corrie the Cock Cobbler; her jeweler, Hennie the Hock; and a myriad of other pimps like Red Dillard, Bumpy Washington, Slim, and Diamond.Sugar Pimp will take you to a world apart, populated by ordinary people caught in extraordinary circumstances: sometimes funny, always painful.
