Ab Initio II provides continuity and progression from Level 1 to Level 2 of the Common Entrance syllabus following the same approach and format as those of Ab Initio I.The vehicle for imparting the prescribed grammar and vocabulary is a series of narrative passages, starting with the wedding of Peleus and Thetis and ending with the fall of Troy. The approach is traditional and thorough. The skills demanded at Common Entrance - competence in reading, familiarity with grammatical terminology, language manipulation and English-into-Latin work - are rehearsed from the early stages and the A4 format and Common Entrance-style phraseology and presentation ensure that pupils are well prepared for the examination as well as being properly grounded in the basics of the subject. As with Ab Initio I, there is plenty of practice material for the slower learner as well as extension work for the more able.Photocopiable verb and noun grids, a detailed course guide for the teacher's reference, and periodic summaries, revision exercises and tests all combine to make this an extremely user-friendly resource.
