"It is hoped that the selection now exhibited and described will give a more adequate representation of the various features of Greek coinage than was possible under the limitations of time and material prescribed for the earlier editions. In previous editions the weights of the coins were given in grains troy. The equivalents in grammes are now added in italics in brackets. Inscriptions are given throughout in small type, without breathings or accents, instead of in capitals, which are apt to be misleading"--
