After Katie returns from her harrowing Caribbean adventure, our enchanting South Beach police rookie is back on the beat in Miami. We follow her to a series of routine police calls which quickly become anything but routine. Katie is assigned to work with a grumpy, ill-tempered veteran officer who has no use for rookies, or anyone else for that matter. The action culminates with a public dedication ceremony for the latest edition to the U.S. Navy's fleet of nuclear submarines, during which Katie is detached from her regular duties and appointed to work 24/7 with the Secret Service agents guarding the promiscuous husband of the President of the United States. In addition to dealing with the lecherous First Husband, Katie and her federal agent partners are soon confronted by a group of Native American militants intent on blowing up a nuclear reactor. With car chases, hand-to-hand combat, shoot-outs, and an imminent nuclear disaster, the thrilling action never stops. You won't want to put this book down.

"In this heroic period of computer art, artists were required to build their own machines, collaborate closely with computer scientists, and learn difficult computer languages. White Heat Cold Logic's chapters, many written by computer art pioneers themselves, describe the influence of cybernetics, with its emphasis on process and interactivity; the connections to the constructivist movement; and the importance of work done in such different venues as commercial animation, fine art schools, and polytechnics."--Jaquette.

The book '... should be assured of the attention of the many on both sides of the Atlantic who are fascinated by this subject.' John Hick
Der Kliene Lump contains a series of true anecdotes about the winsome ways of a boy who experienced rare freedoms and "extravagances" in a harsh era defined by The Great Depression and World War II. The boy's family of seven was unique in heritage, faith, lifestyle, character, and appearance. Less than an acre of land, a primitive house, an outhouse, and five dinky buildings, which sheltered a menagerie of animals, defined their habitat. His mother wore a prayer covering and plain dress that belied her fiery temperament. She referred to her son as Der Kleine Lump (The Little Rascal; at times, The Scoundrel). When the author, John Paugstat, viewed the anecdotes as a composite picture, he saw a boy who, when nurtured by faith, family, and society, rose above the Woes of Poverty and enjoyed the Wows of Privilege and Adventure. The author would like to have been that boy, and so he was--resulting in anecdotes true to the limits of his memory. John Paugstat has degrees from the Universities of California and Cincinnati. He wrote articles on various subjects; he taught and spoke at conventions, corporate, and church-related functions. He has five patents, two published books, and three in development.
What is the difference between lasting and transient happiness? What are the shortcomings of a scientific worldview? Was religion initially about having blind faith, or something else? Is there a way to be freed from internal conflict and external posturing? How can someone become a genuinely good person? Do we actually have souls? What were the ancient mysteries and what were they trying to accomplish? This book seeks to find a new answer to these questions, among others. And what is the possibility that our universe, with its tremendously complex structures, was created entirely by chance? Do we have a creator and if so, why would he allow suffering to take place? Is there a comprehensive explanation of the world? How can we overcome inner-illusions and reach a proper perspective... This work was written as the result of difficult life circumstances, and it is written with blood of the heart, with complete earnestness. Its structure is intended to fit the modern busy person.
