We are delighted to provide the proceedings of the sixth International Conference on Applied Engineering (ICAE), 2023, which was conducted in Batam on November 7th, 2023. This conference, which has as its theme "Synergizing Green Economy, Sustainable Development, and Digitalization for a Prosperous Future," is a significant international assembly that seeks to integrate technological innovation, economic expansion, and environmental sustainability. An ensemble of stakeholders, comprising policymakers, entrepreneurs, and experts, assembles to examine the mutually beneficial correlation that exists between digital advancements and a green economy. The acceptance rate for ICAE 2023 stands at 25%, leading to the selection of 28 substantial papers. The conference featured three distinct tracks: Informatics, Electronics, and Mechanicals. Two keynote addresses were delivered in conjunction with the outstanding technical paper presentations at the technical program. The keynote addresses were delivered by Dr. Ir. Basuki Rahmatul Alam, Chair of the IEEE EDS Indonesia Chapter and Senior Member of IEEE, and Dr. MK Radhakrishnan, Technical Consultant at NanoRel LLP in Singapore and Vice President of IEEE EDS. Coordination effectiveness with the steering committee was crucial to guaranteeing the conference's success. We wish to convey our profound gratitude for their consistent guidance and support that accompanied the entire undertaking. The ICAE Chair Committee deserves special recognition for their conscientiousness in finalizing the peer-review procedure of technical papers, which ultimately led to the creation of a technical program of exceptional quality. Furthermore, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Conference Managers and all the authors who submitted their papers for the ICAE 2023 conference for their invaluable assistance. Additionally, we appreciate the assistance of the EAI staff in facilitating the production of this publication.
This book constitutes the proceedings of the 24th International Conference, ICWE 2024, held in Tampere, Finland, during June 17-20, 2024. Serverless computing has emerged as a transformative technology, gaining prominence over traditional cloud computing. It is characterized by reduced costs, lower latency, and the elimination of server-side management overhead, and is driven by the increasing adoption of containerization and microservices architectures. However, there is a significant lack of comprehensive resources for academic research purposes in this field. Serverless Computing Concepts, Technology, and Architecture addresses this gap and provides a comprehensive exploration of the fundamental concepts, characteristics, challenges, applications, and futuristic approaches of serverless computing. This book serves as a valuable reference for doctorate and post-doctorate research scholars, undergraduates, and postgraduates in fields such as computer science, information technology, electronics engineering, and other related disciplines. Serverless Computing Concepts, Technology, and Architecture is poised to be a one-stop reference point for those seeking to understand and harness the potential of serverless computing. It will serve as a prominent guide for researchers in this field for years to come, enriching their knowledge and advancing the study of serverless computing.
The interaction of various service models, including edge computing and cloud computing, are quickly changing to better support microservices. This intricate weave of technology and information sharing is necessary to build systems that run faster and more efficiently. The interplay between these computing methods and microservices is emerging as the field of Osmotic Computing. Experts can now embark on an intellectual journey into data-driven exploration and ingenuity with the guidance of the book, Advanced Applications in Osmotic Computing. As ethical considerations become rising concerns, the potential biases, privacy encumbrances, and equitable conundrums of osmotic computing are investigated. This book offers judicious strategies to navigate these quandaries conscientiously, adding a layer of responsibility to the discourse. Within these pages, the very fabric of understanding in IoT, Cloud, Edge, Fog, and Machine Learning is redefined, marking a pivotal shift in the paradigm of technological comprehension. This book is an epicenter for the latest evolutions in osmotic computing, unfurling unconventional methodologies that shape the trajectory of data-driven decision-making. Readers will plunge into the theoretical bedrock, simultaneously witnessing pragmatic applications that adeptly bridge the schism between the theoretical constructs and pragmatic realization. The intended audience is multifaceted, encompassing data scientists, machine learning engineers, researchers, academics, educators, students, industry practitioners, interdisciplinary experts, and technology and business leaders.
