As most divorced couples know -- with kids in the mix -- it is very difficult to have a positive influence on a child particularly when dad lives out of state -- far removed from the rigors of the day to day challenges of raising a child. My original plan was to write one life lesson each week and mail it to my daughter for her to read, study and keep for future reference. Sort of like homework with dad yet still be educational and fun in the process. I wrote my first Life Lesson on June 28, 2011. After many revisions, the book was completed a year later. At the time, I would hand write the Life Lesson on a legal sized piece of paper and photocopy it at the local Post Net store and send the original to my daughter Kelsey in Seattle. I kept the photocopy. After dozens of trips, the young woman working behind the counter, Kate Krutilova, says "You know Thorp, you need to write a book!" I thought about it for a moment and realized she was absolutely right! I finally reached my goal of 100 Life Lessons... Three weeks later another one popped into my head at 3am in the morning... So I ended up with 101! The funny thing about reading this book is that there is no rhyme or reason as to the order in which each Life Lesson is written. It's just what came to me at the time. (That is the great thing about having ADD.) Special thanks to Dr. Victoria Ibric at the Neurofeedback & NeuroRehab Institute in Pasadena, CA. I hope you will find this book entertaining, heart-warming and full of really good tips. Buy one for yourself... Better yet, buy two and give it to someone you care about. Thanks for your support! Enjoy!

Prayer is the most vital part of a Christian's life. We must keep an open line of communication with God. Everyone finds themselves in moments of trials and temptations and only God has the perfect way of escape. Do you struggle with spiritual pain-double mindedness, insecurity, fear, hopelessness, unforgiveness, disobedience, hurt, loneliness, rejection, discouragement, anger or a host of other imperfections? Prayer will help; God wants to be your comfort and guide. There is pardon and protection in prayer. God is the main character of prayer-not us. We must bring our petitions to Him-not our wants and persuasions. The excitement of the Christian walk is to find God's will and ask Him for it. The prayers in this book are full of faith and praise and have brought healing and comfort to many. Pray them verbatim or use them as a pattern for your own needs. Victory comes to those who pray. The privilege and responsibility of prayer belongs to those who are saved. Life's Lessons is a group of short stories that introduce people to Jesus, our Savior and Lord, through everyday living. Even if one has not read the Bible, everyday life testifies to the sovereignty of God. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16) "And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him." (I John 5:15) Norma K Riggs is a happily married mother and grandmother living in Windsor, Virginia. She holds the degree of Bachelor of Theology from the International College of Bible Theology. Tools in the Toolbox: Life Lessons in God's Word is a Christian devotional structured around "key life issues." Each is addressed with applicable scripture taken from the Bible. Each of the "key life issues" is clearly presented in a life lesson teaching, which allows the reader to apply God's Word to their daily life. A confession of God's Word and a prayer is included to make the scripture personal to the reader. This devotional will help further your knowledge of God's Word and increase your ability to appropriate God's Word in your own life. It is a valuable tool to help you live a successful life! Matthew 6: 33 (NKJV) "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."
The tenth book in the series provides firsthand accounts of the author's startup companies, what he learned from his successes and failures, and other topics a reader needs to know in order to start a company and quickly develop it.
The father factor is the conscious understanding, awareness, and appreciation of the critical influence that your father had, still has, or could have in your career development and future potential. Noting that the father-son or father-daughter relationship is one of the least understood relationships in adult life, Dr. Poulter helps you become acutely aware of the immeasurable impact (negative or positive) that your father has on your ability to relate to other people. From this recognition you will also learn to move past the career roadblocks that frequently stem from the lingering effects of your father''s influence. Defining five main styles of fathering, Dr. Poulter devotes a chapter each to: The Superachiever Father The Time Bomb Father The Passive Father The Absent Father (whether physically or emotionally) The Compassionate / Mentor Father. By becoming aware of how your father related to you, particularly in a destructive relationship, you''ll understand how your career relationships in many ways mirror your degree of comfort with your father''s emotional legacy. In this way, career roadblocks-often based on interactions with people on the job-will be more easily transformed into career building blocks that will lead to advancement and success.
